Quilting and sampler

Today I have done a bit of quilting. Last year I bought on the Brisbane Quilt Show a quilt, it contains 12 kits. Have done already several kits.

Here you can see the whole quilt.

Last week I received from Annelies a pattern from Amsterdam's coat of arms. As I am born in Amsterdam, I will embroider it and use it with my genealogy. Found a picture of the coat of arms.

Love embroidery, have done a bit of it myself. Got also a sampler from my mother which has been in my family since the war years. During these my father had a second hand furniture shop and had bought it from a deceased estate. The lady was a "diaconess". My mum had it framed. It is nearly 200 hunderd years old.

Am a member of the dutch yahoogroup puzzleblocks, this year each has a turn and makes a pattern of a house. Next month it is my turn to make the pattern for a house. Tomorrow will have to start with it, have a look aroud my area and see if I can find a nice queensland home.

BWB's fundraising

Have not been writing for some time. Have been too busy with a lot of other things, like gardening(never ending story), selling raffle tickets(this is now finished). Have been to the hairdresser, had my hair cut a different way as normal. Had an electrician change the plugs on the walls, these had to be replaced as I could not get the leads out the plugs and they were cracked.

Made enquiries about a parcel, which Alice send on the 31-3-2007 in England and the post office said to ring back over a couple of days. Well the next day the parcel got delivered. Customs had opened it and taken a sort of game out, because it was made of plant material. We can get it back but have to pay for the treatment. According to Alice it is not worth to pay for the treatment, to get the game, so it will be destroyed.

Yesterday I had a fundraising function van the BWB club. It was a day in the woods with jazz. Lots of people came although the rain was threatening to come down.
We had a nice band and the music they made was very good.

The band

At 10am there was damper with syrup and a cup of coffee. The damper was baked the old fashion-way. It tasted beautiful.
There were also raffle tickets for sale and I bought a couple. Let me win a bottle of wine.

The raffle prices are at the back.

At 12 there was lunch. Was helping out in the kitchen and had to put carrots on the plate and then it went to the people.
After everyone had their food, the workers got theirs and then the dish washing had to be done. Luckily there was only the cutlery and the containers. We had used throwaway plates, which are marvelous. It was time to go, the rain was going to come down. It took me an hour to get home.

The BWB-Club

After I had collected for the leukemia foundation had the money banked. Collected $52.70, which is for about 17 a 18 houses very good. On the Tuesday Alice came back from Sydney. The plane arrived at 4.30pm. Had told her to go by airtrain back to the city and then with the bus to Browns Plains, where I picked her up. Traffic at the Airport Drive is too busy, it is really bumper to bumper, 3 lanes thick. Rest of the week busy with getting ready for my week at the Gold Coast. Had arranged for Jaynne, our dog, a house sitter, who was coming twice a day, to check and feed her. Was very upset when I got a phone call that Jaynne went mad in the house. She had pulled down one curtain

and ripped to pieces.

In the laundry there was the skirting board and some tiles gone.

The damage is not too bad, the curtains were very old and had to be replaced, now I have to do it. Have to get a new skirting board, can get that cut to length and nail it then down. The tiles were coming loose and had to be glued back again. Have to do a bit renovating anyway, a bit more or less makes no difference.

On the Gold Coast we had a very nice unit, we lived downstairs.

Did a lot of beach walking

and before the coast was a platform and was told is was the desalination platform for our drinking water.

Every morning and afternoon you can see the helicopter going to the platform and bring or pick up people. Probably it is cheaper to do it this way instead of people living there.

Every lunch we went to a pub close by. We had a good feed for only $4.95 with any drink and it was daily a different meal. At nighttime we did some games and had a lot of fun and laughter. The fridaymorning came to quick and we had to go again. Hope next year to go again.
Oh, by the way BWB stands for Babes without Boopes.
